A felony convictions can prevent you from becoming a pilot or cause you to lose your license once you are a pilot, although it is not official prohibity to be a pilot with a felony conviction. Substance abuse is a common reasons for FAA denial, and the FAA has refused to issue medical certificates because of felony drug convictions. The FAA has discretion in licensing, so if you have a felony conviction, we recommend you contact the FAA prior to starting your training.
