What is Time Building?
What is Time Building? - Flex Air Flight School
Time building is the process of accumulate flight hours. Pilots build time to meet the hour requirements set by the FAA and employers. Many aviation jobs and advanced pilot certificates and ratings require a minimum number of flight hours. For instance, to qualify for an airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate in the U.S., a pilot typically needs at least 1,500 flight hours. Time building helps pilots achieve these minimums. Beyond flying for fun, new pilots often work as certified flight instructor (CFI) to log hours while teaching. Some other ways pilots build time are by banner towing, ferrying aircraft from one location to another, survey and agricultural flying are also common.
